Rattlemouth

About Rattlemouth

Hailing from Richmond, VA, Rattlemouth take art punk to new territory, anchoring unusual scales and modes on guitar and saxophone with nimble bass work and solid drumming. Rattlemouth's music is energetic and driving while incorporating Middle Eastern and European folk elements, lyricism and punk angularity. The group consists of Danny Finney (sax/vocals), Tom Brickman (bass), and Robbie Kinter (drums). The band started in 1990 as the duo of Finney and Kinter, with Brickman joining soon after. Rebbie Sharp played guitar with the band from 1994 through 1996. Finney and Sharp were founding members of Richmond's Orthotonics in the late 1970s; Finney and Kinter are longtime members of the Ululating Mummies, a Richmond-based world music band. Rattlemouth released Walking a Full Moon Dog in 1996 and Fist Full of Iffy in 1998. Both are on the Cuneiform label. ~ Jim Dorsch
