About Rak-Su
Hip-pop outfit Rak-Su live up to their name in every respect. Playing off the phrase “Tracks vs. Suits”, the Watford quartet of childhood mates have successfully balanced business and play since winning The X Factor in 2017. Their greatest strength comes in the seamless, electrifying blend of their many talents: Ashley Fongho is a rapper/poet/songwriter, Jamaal Shurland is a singer/songwriter, Myles Stephenson is a rapper/producer and Mustafa Rahimtulla is a DJ/beatboxer/dancer. Even before their competition show win, Rak-Su had been meticulously refining their racy rhymes and Latin-inspired rhythms, coming into the show with a strong collection of self-penned songs, including the single, “Dimelo”. Recorded with Wyclef Jean and Naughty Boy, the reggaetón-powered ode to pop goddesses like Shakira and Camila Cabello is a banging dance-floor filler. It’s also the perfect intro to their sweet, saucy style, in which they infuse the silky-smooth come-ons of ‘90s R&B with all the fun, frisky bounce of fresh Latin pop and hip-hop.
