About Melissa Menago

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I was probably 8 years old when I remember getting my older friend’s hand-me-down beginner piano books. I was fascinated by them and taught myself how to read music by going through the books on my own. My parents put me in piano lessons after that. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Michelle Branch, Hotel Paper Phoebe Bridgers, Punisher The Holophonics, Maskarades, Vol. 12: Jimmy Eat World: Clarity Hotel Paper by Michelle Branch came out when I was a teenager and it made me want to be a singer-songwriter. Jimmy Eat World’s first record had a massive impact on my band’s first sound when we started out. Punisher by Phoebe Bridgers is beautiful. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Echo the Optimist” This is title track from my record. I’m proud of a lot on this song but my favorite part is oddly the harp sound melody line. To me, that specific melody reminds me of something a music box would play, and I mention my childhood in this song. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Warped Tour was crazy. Summerfest opening for Rise Against was wild. Opening for Twentyone Pilots was cool too. Hitting Billboard. Lots of good moments with my band. Hope there’s more to come with my solo album! Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Anything and everything. Sometimes I think to myself that maybe one day I’ll stop putting music out - it’s stressful. Deep down I know I can’t stop and probably never will. So everything is left on my bucket list I guess.
