About Jhayco
Jhayco can rightfully be called a prodigy, a natural-born talent who, from a very young age, was destined for the major leagues. Born in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico, in 1993 and growing up in New Jersey, the artist formerly known as Jhay Cortez developed a penchant for hip-hop and R&B styles while staying true to his Latin roots, influenced at once by Drake and Don Omar. He began writing his first songs at just 11 years old and by 18 was already behind Grammy-winning hits for the likes of Tito El Bambino (2011’s Invencible). Under the wing of producer Haze, the boricua boy wonder garnered a reputation as a hitmaker for the stars, penning chart-busters for Plan B, Natti Natasha, and Cardi B (2018’s “I Like it”). Yet Jhayco soon proved that his talent did not only lie behind the scenes, as he secured a major label deal with Universal Music Latino where he would launch his debut album, Famouz (2019). Alongside a marquee list of collaborators like J Balvin and Bad Bunny (2019’s “No Me Conoce”), Anuel AA (2020’s “Medusa”) and Ozuna (2020’s “No la Mires”), Jhayco flaunted his status as an urbano firebrand, shaping the genre’s future alongside many of his esteemed contemporaries.
