Jean On Jean

Molly Schnick is essentially Jean On Jean, though band members also include Rafael Cohen, Olivia Mori, and Eric Emm. After leaving popular post-punkers OutHud, celloist/multi-instrumentalist Schnick settled down in Brooklyn in 2005 and began conceptualizing her significantly more demure solo project. With the help of her bandmates (Emm also co-produced and mixed the record), Schnick orchestrated a nine-song, self-titled album over three years that centered on a warm combination of strings, organs, faint percussion, and Schnick’s childlike vocals. The intimate, reflective JEAN ON JEAN was released in 2008 on the Brooklyn-based Kanine label.
