About Ghost Town DJs

Ghost Town DJs were never a proper group, but that didn’t stop the Atlanta hip-hop collective from scoring a hit with 1996’s “My Boo”, their first single. • Ghost Town DJs were ostensibly led by Rodney Terry, a former Def Jam promotions guy who landed on Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def label. • Terry came up with the name Ghost Town DJs. He was inspired by Ghetto Style DJs, a Miami bass crew that was big in the ’80s. • Heavily influenced by Miami bass music, “My Boo” appears on the compilation So So Def Bass All-Stars. The single reached No. 31 on the Billboard Hot 100. • The track features vocals from singer Virgo and production by Terry and Carlton “Carl Mo” Mahone. • “My Boo” made a comeback in 2016, when the “Running Man Challenge” meme went viral on Vine. The track re-entered the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at No. 27. • Over the years, numerous artists have sampled or interpolated “My Boo”, including Mariah Carey, Pitbull and Ciara.
