About Gettysburg Address
Mike Hanford led this Winnipeg-based group who began playing as the Shondells (not the American group with Tommy James). They released two national hits in the mid-'60s ("Another Man" and "I Take It Back"), but changed their name to Gettysburg Address in 1967, when they began to play in more of a Motown mode (as compared to their British-influenced former sound). Several singles were released in the late '60s, including "Love Is a Beautiful Thing," "My Girl" and "Come Back Baby." ~ John Bush
