Best known for his work with The Paul Winter Consort, this classically trained cellist was inspired by equal parts sacred orchestral music and mid-'60s pop styles. (The innovative use of the cello by the Beatles in some of their arrangements was a strong influence on young Friesen.) His work with a diverse roster of artists over the years has further expanded his scope.
