Editors' Notes Even as it pulls from seemingly disparate pieces of musical source code—string-laden chamber music, jittery highlife—Vampire Weekend’s debut record carries a sheen of urgent, fully formed unstoppability. Self-produced, winningly wry, and loaded with sprightly Ivy League vignettes (“Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa,” “Campus,” “Oxford Comma”), Vampire Weekend is indie at its most unashamedly literate. But, as evinced by the rambunctious Graceland-dipped guitars on “A-Punk,” these college kids can still cut loose.
