Five years after his first recording of these works, Krivine has moved from Luxembourg to Paris and gives a truly individual and memorable pair of performances on this terrific Debussy anniversary release. The superb Orchestre National de France bring these two great scores to life with a totally idiomatic feel. La Mer has delicacy as well as power and, as a bonus, Krivine gives us the alternative version with fanfares of La Mer’s third movement. Images are equally magical, their evocation of sounds and scents beautifully conveyed.
