About Switchfoot

Straddling the worlds of alternative rock and Christian music, San Diego outfit Switchfoot have forged their own path for more than two decades. ∙ Formed in 1996, Switchfoot got their first major exposure outside the Christian music market when their songs were prominently featured in the 2002 Mandy Moore film A Walk to Remember. ∙ Their 2003 LP, The Beautiful Letdown, went double Platinum, producing the hit singles “Meant to Live” and “Dare You to Move,” both of which were Top 20 Pop hits. ∙ Released in 2005, Nothing Is Sound has been the group’s highest-charting album, reaching No. 3 on the Billboard 200. ∙ Switchfoot has twice been nominated for Grammy Awards, winning in 2010 when Hello Hurricane took home Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album honors. ∙ Avid surfers—the group’s name refers to a surfing maneuver—Switchfoot released a documentary film, 2013’s Fading West, that showcased their love of the sport. ∙ The band has won 15 Dove Awards, including Rock/Contemporary Album of the Year for their 2019 LP, Native Tongue.
