TM NETWORK gave the shimmering sounds of ‘80s J-pop a futuristic face-lift by piling on synthesisers, announcing that tomorrow would sound just as sweet as the present—only with a little more electricity. Featuring Europop-inspired producer Tetsuya Komuro alongside Takashi Utsunomiya and Naoto Kine, TM NETWORK crafted hooky pop-rock anchored by guitar and pounding drums, and given an extra jolt by Komuro's fascination with neon-soaked electronic sounds. The group emphatically proved that futuristic motifs could coexist with the more familiar cornerstones of J-pop.
