Meat Puppets emerged from the squall of early ‘80s hardcore. Led by brothers Cris and Curt Kirkwood, the Arizona-bred band has always embraced a trend-repellent blend of punk, country and psychedelia. Between bursts of majestically sludgy guitar and hallucinatory lyrics, moments of tumult give way to wistful guitars and sunbaked calm. Over three decades, the Kirkwoods have carved out a place where noise, groove and cowpunk mischief are allowed to coincide.
