T-Bone Walker Essentials

Just about every electric guitarist in blues and rock 'n' roll owes their career to the innovations of T-Bone Walker, whose fluid, expressive style influenced artists from B.B. King to Jimi Hendrix. On his classic '40s sides, Walker's deep bends, jazzy phrasing and visceral attack turned the blues guitar solo into an art. Whether he was slowly unfurling his aching licks on "Call It Stormy Monday" or bringing down a lightning bolt of frenetic fret-work on the sinuous shuffle "Papa Ain't Salty", Walker was a wizard of the six-string whose free-roaming fingers changed the blues forever.
