Peter Perrett Essentials

An enigmatic figure with a distinctively deadpan delivery and a notable aversion to the public eye, London-bred singer/songwriter Peter Perrett was one of New Wave's most elusive savants. He made a splash with the gloriously taut jangle of 1978's “Another Girl, Another Planet” and released a handful of swaggering power-punk records with The Only Ones before dialing it down a notch and going dark for more than a decade. He resurfaced in 1996 with dreamily shambolic tunes like “How the West Was Won”; that newfound looseness has come to define his late-career gems.
