Singer-songwriter Matt Holubowski’s haunting falsetto and gentle indie-folk sound made him one of his native Quebec’s most renowned songsmiths in the 2010s. Since then, the word has gotten out across Canada. Born in 1988 in Hudson, Quebec, he went globe-trotting in search of himself after graduating from university in 2014, writing songs along the way. Upon his return, he began fully embracing his musical calling, releasing his debut album later that year. In 2015 he became a finalist on La Voix, Quebec’s version of The Voice, and the attention boost helped 2016’s Solitudes to go Gold. Holubowski’s sound took a more idiosyncratic turn on 2020’s Weird Ones, and three years later, Like Flowers on a Molten Lawn introduced his most complexly textured tracks to date.
