Johnny Paycheck Essentials

Johnny Paycheck started cutting hard-country classics in the mid-'60s, but it wasn't until the outlaw-country movement of the ‘70s caught up with him that he finally found the perfect mould for his hard-hitting, no-nonsense honky-tonk. Paycheck's immortal blue-collar anthem "Take This Job and Shove It" made him a hero of the American working class forevermore, and on rough 'n' ready cuts like "I'm the Only Hell (My Mama Ever Raised)", he proved he could stand right alongside the likes of Waylon and Merle when it came to being an iconic country badass.
