Formed in Southern California and signed to a record deal when their members were still in school, Eve 6 embody the anything-goes promise of the ’90s alternative-rock movement. The trio established themselves with tunes like the 1998 post-grunge anthem “Inside Out” and the wistful 2000 slow-dance ballad “Here’s to the Night”, but they quickly branched out in harder and heavier directions. The 2000 post-hardcore pogo “On the Roof Again” gave way to 2003’s “Think Twice”, a song indebted to darker, jawing emo rock; later Eve 6 songs take cues from ominous stoner rock and fuzzed-out hard rock with a melodic pop core.
