Spare, thoughtful and moving, David Wingo’s music complements the many equally unique films and TV shows he’s scored. An Austin-based musician and composer who also leads the band Ola Podrida, Wingo has been an indispensable collaborator to Jeff Nichols and David Gordon Green, two former schoolmates who both became celebrated filmmakers. While his efforts for films like Nichols’ Take Shelter combine rich textures with a rootsy simplicity, Wingo’s music for The Report and Midnight Special and his collaborations with Explosions In the Sky demonstrates his ability to subtly but surely raise intensity levels, too.
