Chuck Berry: Influences

Chuck Berry may have helped to invent rock 'n' roll, but he didn't do it from a blank slate. Forging a blend of traditional country and rhythm ‘n' blues, Berry channelled the biting guitar licks of Louis Jordan, the cosmopolitan blues of Charles Brown and the twangy stomp of Hank Williams, creating a sound that tuned millions of '50s teens into a rockin' revolution.
