Teenage Head

About Teenage Head

With a fondness for rowdy, raucous, adrenaline-fueled three-chord romps cut by Frankie Venom’s galloping, eerily familiar baritone, Hamilton, Ontario’s, Teenage Head were swiftly dubbed the Canadian Ramones. The label never quite fit; where their NYC counterparts owed a heavy debt to surf rock and doo-wop, Teenage Head bowed to the gods of rockabilly and power pop. The miscasting partially explains why the band, while huge in its homeland, barely made a dent south of the border; however, during a brief time in the late-1970s & early-1980s, the fierce outfit unleashed some of the most original, most downright raw and ferocious creations in the underground. The act continued to tour and evolve - its four original members intact - right up until Venom’s death in 2008.
