Rachel Gough

About Rachel Gough

British violinist Rachel Gough initially studied violin with Gillian Sansom. She attended the University of East Anglia, where she studied with Hugh Maguire and graduated with first-class honors in music. She also studied with Frances Mason at the Royal College of Music, and received coaching from the Chilingirian Quartet. She earned her Master's degree in advanced performance in 1997. Gough was a tutor in violin at the Wells Cathedral Specialist Music School. She has appeared as a soloist with many orchestras, including the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, the Bath Philharmonia Orchestra, the Southern Sinfonia, and the Sarum Chamber Orchestra. She is the principal second violin of the Bristol Ensemble, and she performs with her husband, organist Rupert Gough, in the Gough Duo. She has recorded for Hyperion, Naxos, Priory Records, and Guild. ~ Blair Sanderson
