In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. In 1979 when I was 6 I recorded to cassette tape a song I wrote about Paddington Bear. I played ukulele while my sister played pots and pans. We had the levels up so loud some friends could hear us two blocks away! What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Chris Lam Sam, Silly Funny Songs for Kids! Tom Waits, Mule Variations fleaBITE, Snakes Alive - It's Fleabite 5 fleaBITE because it's the most diverse and fun NZ children's music apart from Levity Beet. Tell us why you chose this song. “Watermelon” I started with a simple pretty melody on an mbira from a local trade-aid store. It was so pretty and light but I like how the song ends up really pumped up and bouncy. Also the lyrics are pretty much about an average day in my backyard!
