About Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich
The 1960s U.K. beat group Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich established their live persona during residencies at various Hamburg clubs in 1962. Their act featured rock & roll spiced with comedy routines and an element of risque patter. Signed to Fontana Records, they hit the U.K. chart with the upbeat "You Make It Move." Thereafter, they had an incredible run of a dozen strong chart hits, notably "Bend It," "The Legend Of Xanadu," and the bewildering "Zabadak," sung entirely in a made-up language. The sheer diversity of the hits maintained the band's appeal, but by the end of the '60s the well had run dry, and Dave Dee left for an unsuccessful solo career before venturing into television presenting and A&R.
