Raimundos Essentials

Brazilian hardcore band Raimundos chose their name as homage to their biggest influence: the legendary American punk band Ramones. Exploding onto the scene in 1987, they brought a sound rich in huge distorted guitars and pounding drums—yet lightened with melodic and catchy choruses, as on “Baculejo”. Their big break came with their eponymous 1994 album and its hit single “Selim”, which featured the at times operatic vocals of Rodolfo Abrantes. Their songs have a grungy edge, but can be comedic and fun, too, as on “I Saw You Saying” or the happily upbeat “Me Lambe”.
