Thee Oh Sees' signature sound fuses garage-rock mayhem to steely Krautrock propulsion, but what bonds things together is John Dwyer's insidious songcraft. On “Poor Queen”, a motorik rhythm hoists Dwyer's psych-pop sing-along aloft like royalty on parade. And while “Dead Man's Gun” arrives in a flurry of throbbing bass grooves and pinprick guitar lines, its bouncing-ball melodies are almost like nursery rhymes in their giddy simplicity.
