Stereophonics possess the kind of pop versatility that sends fellow musicians into jealous rages. They've crafted an abundance of catchy hits, and the spigot from which their inspiration flows never seems to shut off. In the mid-'90s, with Britpop slaying the masses, the band first struck gold with chunky guitars supporting Kelly Jones' raspy rhymes. The ambitious singer, who pens a lot of the group's material, wasted no time in adding touches of folk rock, soul and clubby electronic music. But even when they sound more like ravers than rockers, the music remains uniquely Stereophonic.
