Like many contemporary hard-rock bands, Shaman’s Harvest have a well-executed cover song in their catalogue—specifically, an aggressive, blues-tinged take on Michael Jackson’s 1988 hit “Dirty Diana”. However, the Missouri band have been on an upswing since their pile-driving 2009 breakthrough, “Dragonfly”, because of originals that strive to reshape the heavy-music landscape. The soul-drenched 2014 hard rocker “Blood in the Water” and the 2017 post-grunge strut “The Come Up” were mere appetisers for 2021’s menacing Southern-rock dirge “Bird Dog”.
