Quincy Jones: Deep Cuts

Quincy Jones: Deep Cuts

Quincy Jones has never been shy about working global sounds into his pop-jazz. “On the Street Where You Live” has horns dancing atop bossa-nova percussion and “Jive Samba” utilises carnivalesque rhythms, both featuring Brazilian-inspired arrangements for a big band. He also dips into Japanese music with “Blues for Trumpet & Koto”, a quirky soundtrack piece built from his cackling horn and Kazuko Inano's lyrical plucking.
