In the late '90s and early '00s, Atlanta was the centre of Southern rap's commercial explosion. And MC/producer Lil Jon was the undisputed king of crunk, dominating the rowdy, club-friendly subgenre. With the boom-boom-clap of his 808 beats and his signature ad libs shouted over the hooks of his group The East Side Boyz, anthems like “Get Low” and “Bia' Bia'” dominated the dance floor. Lil Jon's posse cuts helped introduce Ying Yang Twins and Lil Scrappy to the world, and provided stars like Ludacris and Mystikal the opportunity to spit some of their most memorable guest verses.
