One of the crucial figures in the history of dub, King Tubby transformed the rhythms of reggae forever. Using studio techniques like delay, echo and reverb, the recording engineer created astonishing new grooves from hit reggae singles. Throughout the '70s, Tubby set a new standard for experimental rhythms, but his dubs are also beautiful, catchy and deeply soulful. Changing up his style in the '80s as the digital beats of dancehall hit the sound systems, the Jamaican pioneer continued to produce astounding work until he was tragically killed in 1989.
