Jay Joyce: The Producers

Jay Joyce: The Producers

The alt-rock bands that Jay Joyce played guitar in during the 1980s and early ’90s flew slightly under the radar, but he really began making a name for himself by applying his mercurial musicianship to other artists’ projects. He played on numerous Nashville sessions, produced a feverish early Patty Griffin collection, and eventually proved himself to be the rare studio mind who can challenge punk and metal bands like Coheed and Cambria, FIDLAR and Halestorm and adventurous mainstream country album makers like Eric Church, Little Big Town, Brothers Osborne, Ashley McBryde and Miranda Lambert alike. Joyce’s reputation as a mad scientist with exceptional instincts is partly due to the singular results he gets by merging nervy instrumental performances and digital tricks.
