Georges Garvarentz Essentials

French-Armenian composer and prolific songwriter Georges Garvarentz wrote the scores for over 150 movies from the late ‘50s up until the early ‘90s. From the start, he had an obvious gift for romantic melodies and nostalgic harmonies, best captured by the sweetly melancholic song “Paris au mois d'août”. However, his film scores were a bit more adventurous, playing with divergent genres like the ‘50s-era innocent charm of “Daniella” and the dark, mysterious hit “That Man in Istanbul”. The moods of his melodies are ever restless and diverse—he was never one to try the same thing twice.
