In Luke Combs’ pandemic song, “Six Feet Apart”, visions of ordinary life—dogwoods blooming, watching a baseball game—become uncommonly moving, and he uses hyper-specific language to drench Riley Green’s “I Let A Damn Good Woman Leave'' in nostalgia. And in his own “Black Creek”, his biblical imagery lends the song a significant weight.
