67 Songs

EDITORS’ NOTES

“Dance of the Clairvoyants” was “a perfect storm of experimentation and real collaboration”, Pearl Jam’s Jeff Ament tells Apple Music. “We took our time, and that benefited us taking more chances.” The first single from Gigaton—the Seattle rock outfit’s first LP in seven years, due 27 March—finds Pearl Jam at their most adventurous. Guitarist Stone Gossard takes on Ament’s bass duties while Ament holds forth on guitar and atmospheric synths for an often eerie post-punk tune that also features some of Ament’s favourite Eddie Vedder lyrics yet. Co-produced with long-time band associate Josh Evans, it marks the first time they’ve recorded an album in their own in-house studio. “I can’t tell you how proud I am about this group of songs,” Ament says. “We’ve opened some new doors creatively, and that’s exciting.” Listen to “Dance of the Clairvoyants” now and add this playlist to your library to stay up on the latest and greatest new music.
