Formed in Nashville in 1996, Avalon lit up contemporary Christian music with their smooth harmonies and polished pop. Their debut album, A Maze of Grace, began a long run of chart success. 2006 brought their first traditional hymns album, Faith, and in 2009 “Arise” became their 22nd song to top the contemporary Christian charts. The personnel has changed over the years but the concept of a male/female Christian harmony group endures, with Janna Long remaining from the original lineup; her husband, Greg Long, has been a member since 2003.
