Grammy-nominated, platinum-selling artist, producer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Akon recently shook up the music industry with the launch of his Akonik Label Group, an endeavor comprising four separate region-specific labels: Akonda (Afrobeats), Akonik (U.S.), Jamakon (the Caribbean), and Ke Lo Ke (Latin America). The world-conquering musician’s Black Music Month playlist, which features tracks from Wizkid, Youssou N'Dour, and Bunji Garlin, is a collection of favorites new and old that doubles as a sampling of his latest business endeavor. "I've had the honor to work with a variety of artists from around the world,” Akon says. “I wanted to put a list together that captured the essence of a few of my friends and show music on a global scale.”
