About The Swan King
Chicago trio the Swan King infuse heavy, prog-infused riffs with screamo vocals and modernize the foundation built by ‘90s post-hardcore acts like Drive Like Jehu and Slint with a touch of metal. Formed in 2009 by guitarist/vocalist Dallas Thomas (Asschapel, Circle of Animals), bassist Jamie Drier (Planes Mistaken for Stars), and drummer Zafar Musharraf, the trio released a gritty demo, titled Good Deeds, before following it up with 2011’s Eyes Like Knives, an eight-song album recorded by Pelican producer Sanford Parker. ~ Jason Lymangrover
