About The Mistreaters

The Mistreaters were a Milwaukee, WI, quartet that brewed up quite a rock & roll stew. It all began in 1999 with the memorable demo Don't Do Drugs and Stay in School, which established the band's white phosphorus punk-fueled garage sound. The recording made its way to the Reston, VA, indie Big Neck, which promptly unchained a Mistreaters 7" upon an unsuspecting world. The screaming, whiskey-soaked full-length Grab Them Cakes appeared in 1999 on the same label, after which the band toured incessantly, and appeared on a few compilations. In 2001, vocalist Christreater, bassist David John Henry, guitarist Dusty, and drummer Christian (who all share the Mistreater surname) landed on the venerable Bellingham, WA, trash rock label Estrus with their Personal Space Invader 7" EP. After another series of singles, the band finally released its sophomore full-length on Estrus in June 2003. Playa Hated to the Fullest was recorded by garage rock titan Jim Diamond, and included backing vocals from the Come Ons' Deanne Iovan. ~ Johnny Loftus
