A black metal side project of Thralldom's Killusion (aka Ryan Lipynsky), the Howling Wind released their first dense slab of experimental black metal in 2007. Entitled Pestilence & Peril, the work featured Killusion on guitars, bass, and vocals, with Parasitus taking on percussion duties. Released on Profound Lore, the record was well received in the extreme metal press. The band continued to spin a crawling web of proggy cult metal, with its sophomore album, Into the Cryosphere, arriving in 2010, followed by Of Babalon in 2012. ~ Chris True
