About Lone Justice

One of the best bands of the Los Angeles-based cowpunk scene in the early 1980s, Lone Justice had a short, unstable career. Their lasting claim to fame is their self-titled debut album, released in 1985. Combining elements of country, roots rock, and rockabilly with punk attitude, and distinguished by Maria McKee’s lilting voice and gems such as “Ways To Be Wicked,” LONE JUSTICE received great critical acclaim. Even though the band established a small devoted following, the debut still didn’t sell well, and the other members of the band eventually quit, leaving McKee to continue on her own. She re-formed the group with new members for 1986’s SHELTER, but disbanded that lineup shortly after to pursue a solo career. Live material and two compilations (most notably 1999’s THIS WORLD IS NOT MY HOME) were issued later.
