Knudsen is a keyboard player and composer who during the 70s co-led, with alto saxophonist and composer Karsten Vogel, two of the best Danish jazz rock groups, Secret Oyster and Birds Of Beauty. In 1976 Knudsen joined Palle Mikkelborg’s Entrance band inspired by Weather Report. Knudsen’s keyboards provides an ambience of tonal coloration that works best in slow, sparse minimalist settings. Close to ECM Records’ sound, Knudsen’s music successfully avoids any new age saccharine mellowness.
