About Dwarves

Playing deliberately crude, high-speed punk rock dripping with attitude, the Dwarves -- led by vocalist Blag Dahlia and guitarist He Who Cannot Be Named -- match their music with lyrics that celebrate all sorts of bad behavior, and their album covers almost invariably feature full-frontal nudity. Add in the band's live shows, which often last less than 20 minutes and occasionally include physical assaults on the audience, and you have a recipe for infamy, which the Dwarves rode for a lasting cult following. They gained fame in the punk underground for 1990's Blood Guts & Pussy, a 14-minute assault on propriety, but eased into a less threatening sound on 1993's Sugarfix, and after returning from a hiatus with 1997's The Dwarves Are Young and Good Looking, they merged sleazy lyrics with increasingly tuneful music on 2014's The Dwarves Invented Rock & Roll and 2023's Concept Album.
