About Al Wilson

Mississippian soul singer Al Wilson, known most for the 1973 number one pop hit "Show and Tell," was a journeyman musician and singer (Johnny Harris & the Statesman, the Jewels, the Rollers, and the Souls) until he signed with Johnny Rivers' Soul City imprint. Wilson's first charting R&B singles, including "The Snake," came in 1968. "Show and Tell," a Johnny Mathis castoff released in 1973, sold well over a million copies. "The La La Peace Song" proved another major hit, and two years later, "I've Got a Feeling We'll Be Seeing Each Other Again" peaked at number three on the R&B chart. With 1979's "Count the Days" Wilson scored his final charting single. Kidney failure took his life in 2008. ~ Jason Ankeny
