British-Indian artist Manj Musik first reached fame alongside his brothers in bhangra-inspired outfit RDB, which stands for ‘rhythm, dhol and bass’. He went solo in the mid-2010s but he’s never strayed too far from that notion of keeping it simple. He has, however, added more Punjabi pop, hip-hop and electronic beats to his arsenal over the years, as Too Cold attests. Clubby opener “Flexin” is at once subtle and powerful, while the loops, scratches and rubbery synths of “We The Shit” coalesce for a bouncy highlight. And with “Last Breath”, the EP closes on a beautifully pensive note.
