Sabine Meyer Essentials

Meyer's name was first encountered when she became the cause of a battle of wills between Herbert von Karajan and the Berlin Philharmonic: he wanted her as a player, and the orchestra didn't. She weathered the controversy, emerging as a soloist of distinction who became not only a superb concerto player but a prized and sensitive chamber musician too (and a much-loved teacher). Her lyrical, singing line and magical feeling for phrasing adorn numerous recordings—including a fine Mozart concerto with the Berlin Philharmonic.
