Orchestre de Paris Essentials

Orchestre de Paris was founded in 1967, and veteran conductor Charles Munch's triumphant rendering of Berlioz's "Symphonie Fantastique" that year remains exemplary. Since then, the orchestra has been home to a series of high-profile musical directors, including Sir Georg Solti and Christoph Eschenbach. While bringing sensitivity and power to an array of symphonic works from the 18th and 19th centuries—and even the occasional contemporary piece—the institution's undeniable speciality is French music, including Poulenc's soaring choral settings of Stabat Mater and Ravel’s impressionistic ballet Daphnis et Chloé.
