Inspired by John Lee Hooker

The hypnotic "boogie" guitar sound on John Lee Hooker's '50s records had a huge impact on rock, starting in the '60s with Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones and The Animals. In the '70s, Hooker's style was picked up by boogie blues revivalists like Canned Heat and ZZ Top. Alt-rockers like The White Stripes and Cat Power then continued to pay homage to Hooker all the way into the 21st century.
