Iggy earned his “godfather of punk” reputation as The Stooges' chest-slashing frontman. But his nonconformist attitude is just as audible on mid-'70s curios like “Mass Production”, where frosty synths form the foundation for a cinematic art pop epic. His later years have taken him beyond rock entirely, into the Dixieland blues of “King of the Dogs” and the elegant franco-folk of “La Javanaise”.
