Fugazi Essentials

When Washington D.C. post-hardcore quartet Fugazi formed in 1987, three of its members had already started movements: with Minor Threat, Ian MacKaye coined the phrase “straight edge”, and Guy Picciotto and Brendan Canty had arguably created emo-core with Rites Of Spring. Over six LPs, Fugazi developed a broad sonic palette that incorporated funk, reggae and aggressive guitars. The band enjoyed worldwide success touring the globe, fiercely maintaining their independence, and eventually building a legacy that rivalled their own prior achievements. Fugazi announced their “indefinite hiatus” in 2003.
